Problem Scope
How can we help NASA engineers across Level 2 and Level 3 have a shared vision of the Space Launch System (SLS) progress and improve team communication to minimize milestone review delays?
How do we help systems engineers know when they're "done" with this stage of designing the rocket and, more specifically, understand the complex information required to do so?
Over the course of our research, we found that the greater problem was getting to "done," rather than not knowing when a phase was "done."
We pivoted our focus to better enable NASA systems engineers to understand the dependencies involved in the process of getting to "done" with the design of the SLS rocket.
KEY INSIGHT 1
Engineers across levels don't share priorities, leading to tensions.
KEY INSIGHT 2
Dependencies across disciplines often cause delays.
KEY INSIGHT 3
Data is difficult to locate and communicate.
